Zoom input (Beta)
A Zoom Meeting input brings the guests of a Zoom meeting into your Studio. Cliqer joins the meeting as your Zoom account, and every guest arrives as their own caller input, with their own video and audio, so you switch each person like any camera. The meeting sees and hears your show in return.
What you need
- Studio open, signed in.
- A plan that includes Zoom input (Beta): the Free trial, Studio 8K and Enterprise. See Plans and limits.
- A Zoom account connected to your Cliqer account. See Adding the app.
- Your Zoom account already in the meeting. Cliqer joins on its behalf, so start or join the meeting in Zoom first.
Adding the app
Connecting your Zoom account adds the Cliqer app to it.
- In Studio, open Add Input and choose Zoom Meeting.... Next to Account, choose Connect Zoom account. Cliqer opens https://cliqer.io/dash/zoom in your browser, signed in as the account the app uses. You can also open that page yourself and choose Connect Zoom.
- Sign in to Zoom and allow Cliqer.
- The page reads Zoom connected: "Return to Cliqer to add a Zoom input. You can close this tab."
Once connected the page shows a Connected badge, your Zoom name under Zoom account, and under Cliqer account the account the connection is saved for. In the app's Zoom sheet, Account reads Connected as and your Zoom name. If you decline in Zoom the page reads "Zoom was not connected: the request was declined." Choose Connect Zoom to try again.
Usage
Join a meeting
- Start or join the meeting in Zoom with the account you connected.
- In Studio, open Add Input and choose Zoom Meeting....
- In Meeting ID, paste the meeting's invite link or type the meeting number. A pasted link fills the number, and the passcode too when the link carries one and Passcode is empty.
- Enter the Passcode if the meeting has one. The field is hidden as you type.
- Choose Join.
Status follows the join: Joining, Waiting for the host, then In the meeting.
Allow recording
Cliqer receives the meeting's video and audio through Zoom's local recording permission. After Cliqer joins, Zoom shows the meeting's host a prompt asking to let Cliqer record. Video and audio arrive only after the host allows it. While it waits, Cliqer shows Waiting for Recording Permission: "The meeting host must allow Cliqer to record before video and audio arrive." If the host declines, Cliqer shows Recording Permission Denied.
Route each guest
Every person in the meeting arrives as their own caller input, in the green room until you put them On Stage. Zoom callers use the same controls as a Video Call: On Stage, Talkback, their own NDI output, the return settings and Hang Up. Put a guest in a scene, a layout or straight to Program like any other input. A guest who renames themselves in Zoom is renamed in Cliqer.
Phone audio
People who dial in by phone have no video and arrive only in the meeting's mixed audio. Turn on Phone audio to bring that mix in as its own channel in the Audio mixer. It is off by default.
Send Program back into the meeting
Once the host allows recording, Cliqer sends Program into the meeting as its camera, and a mix-minus as its microphone: Program's sound without any of the meeting's own audio, so guests never hear themselves.
Active App Notifier
While you are in a meeting, Active App Notifier opens Zoom's own panel of the apps that can see the meeting's content.
Leave
Leave hangs up every Zoom caller at once. Their inputs stay, waiting, as with any caller who leaves. When the meeting ends for everyone Cliqer shows Zoom Meeting Ended: "Every Zoom caller has left."
External Control
Two Zoom actions can be mapped in External Control:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Leave Zoom meeting (in Callers) | Leaves the meeting, as Leave does. |
| Zoom phone audio | Turns Phone audio on or off. |
Joining cannot be mapped: a meeting's passcode is a secret no trigger may carry.
Your meeting's video and audio
The meeting's video and audio are processed on your computer. Cliqer does not upload or store them. They leave your computer only through what you send out: Program back into the meeting, and the streams, recordings and outputs you set up.
Removing the app
You can remove the app in either place:
- On cliqer.io: open https://cliqer.io/dash/zoom and choose Disconnect. In the app, Disconnect Zoom in the Zoom sheet does the same. Cliqer withdraws its access at Zoom and deletes the connection.
- On Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage, then Added Apps, and remove Cliqer. Zoom tells Cliqer, and Cliqer deletes the connection.
What Cliqer keeps for a connection, and deletes in both cases: your Zoom user ID, your Zoom display name, and the Zoom sign-in token, which is stored encrypted. Cliqer keeps no meeting video, audio, chat or participant list. After removing the app, joining a meeting shows Connect Your Zoom Account until you connect again. See the Privacy Policy for your rights over your data.
Troubleshooting
| Notice | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sign In to Join Zoom | Sign in to Cliqer first. |
| Plan Does Not Include Zoom | Your plan does not include Zoom input. Upgrade on cliqer.io. |
| Connect Your Zoom Account | No Zoom account is connected, or Zoom no longer accepts the connection. Choose Connect Zoom and connect again. |
| Join the Meeting in Zoom First | Your Zoom account must be in the meeting before Cliqer joins it. |
| Waiting for Recording Permission | The host has not answered Zoom's recording prompt yet. |
| Recording Permission Denied | The meeting's host did not allow recording, so no video or audio arrives. Ask the host to allow it and join again. |
| Zoom Media Not Licensed | This meeting does not allow access to its video and audio. |
| Zoom Did Not Accept Cliqer | Zoom refused the sign-in. Try again later. |
| Zoom Unavailable | Zoom cannot be reached right now. Try again later. |
| Zoom Error | Zoom reported an error, with its code when Zoom gives one. |
On https://cliqer.io/dash/zoom, "Zoom could not be connected. Try again." means the sign-in did not finish: choose Connect Zoom again in the same browser.
